Turn Off the Water
Find your main shutoff valve (usually near the water meter or where the main line enters your home) and turn it clockwise to close. We can walk you through this on the phone.
Turn Off the Water Heater
If there is flooding, turn off your water heater to prevent damage. For gas heaters, turn the dial to pilot. For electric, flip the breaker.
Open Drains and Spigots
After shutting off the main valve, open faucets to drain remaining water from pipes. This reduces pressure and potential damage.
Document the Damage
Take photos and videos for insurance purposes before cleanup begins. Document the source of the problem and extent of water damage.
